MedicareConnect

A personalized service to help you navigate Medicare at no cost

As employees approach retirement, many ask about medical insurance coverage. Most people know that Medicare offers a wide range of benefits and can provide low-cost health insurance. What they don’t realize is that Medicare can also be a smart choice while they’re still employed.

Still, Medicare terminology and plan choices can feel overwhelming. MedicareConnect, a program offered through our partner, SmartConnect, can help. MedicareConnect supports both working and retiring adults who are Medicare-eligible and want to explore the advantages of Medicare coverage.

The program is available at no cost to all health system employees age 64-½ or older (or otherwise Medicare-eligible), as well as to extended family members who are looking for robust coverage, potential savings and extra benefits through their health insurance.

You do not need to enroll in one of the health system’s medical plans to use MedicareConnect, and you do not need to be benefits-eligible. Also, if a loved one wants to use this program, you do not need to be directly involved.

A licensed insurance agent assigned to you

MedicareConnect makes the transition to Medicare easier through education and one-on-one consultations with a licensed insurance agent. Instead of calling a rotating help line, you work with an agent who is assigned to learn your needs and answer your questions.

Your agent will review your current coverage, explain your options, advise you on enrolling in Medicare Parts A and B (that is, if you decide that Medicare is a better option for you than one of the health system’s medical plans), conduct policy reviews, and remain available as an ongoing resource after you leave the health system.

With MedicareConnect, you can:

  • Learn about Medicare from a trusted industry professional.
  • Access ongoing education.
  • Understand the factors that influence your healthcare costs and coverage options.
  • Compare your current coverage (through the health system or another plan) with multiple Medicare options.
  • Get help enrolling.

Here to help—not to sell

MedicareConnect agents are licensed in all 50 states, so they can support you and your loved ones wherever you live. The agents are “carrier-neutral,” which means they don’t work for a specific insurer and aren’t paid to steer you to one health plan. They focus on what fits your needs.
